A woman was arrested with brown sugar :
Police in Banke have arrested a woman with 12 grams of brown sugar last night.
Durga Sharma, 25, of Madhuwan Municipality-4 of Bardiya has been arrested by the police team deployed from the District Police Office at Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality-1 Shiva Mandir.
Police have seized 12 grams of brown sugar from him and necessary investigation is underway, police said.

In the last 24 hours, 1714 people have been infected with corona virus in Nepal.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, PCR tests of 5,225 people conducted in various laboratories across the country have confirmed corona in 1103 cases and antigens of 3,288 people in 611 cases.
In the last 24 hours, 9 corona infected people have died. In the same period, 4771 corona infections were reported from different hospitals in the country, according to the ministry.
According to the Ministry of Health, the recovery rate is 93.03 million.
Earthquake shakes Lamjung :
According to the National Earthquake Measurement and Research Center, an earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale struck Baglungpani in Kwalasothar Gaonpalika-1 of Lamjung district at 10:34 pm last night.

Congress convenes meeting of performance committee :
Nepali Congress has called a meeting of the executive committee.
Congress chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel said that the first meeting of the Central Working Committee was convened on January 10. In a statement issued on Saturday, Poudel said that a meeting of the party’s executive committee has been convened.
A statement issued by the party said, “The meeting of the Nepali Congress Working Committee will be held on January 10, 2008 at 2 pm at the party’s central office, BP Smriti Bhawan, BP Nagar, Lalitpur.”
According to him, the meeting will discuss about the fraternal and well-wishers. Poudel also said that the issues of the remaining 16 districts are also on the agenda. He said that various issues will also be discussed in the meeting.
