Alia was born on 15th of March in the year 1993 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. His father Mahesh Bhatt was a director and her mother is an actress Soni Razdan. She has an elder sister Shaheen Bhatt. Actor Emraan Hashmi and director Mohit Suri are her maternal cousin. Producer Mukesh Bhatt was her uncle and director Nanabhai Bhatt was her paternal grandfather.
